Creating Renditions

A rendition is a representation of a file published to another format. You can publish renditions from one or more files in a document. The default rendition formats are PDF, TIFF image, and ASCII text file. If needed, the administrator can configure the system to include a watermark on each rendition.

Note: To create a rendition, the following must be true:
  • The Rendition Service must be enabled for this community. This is done by the administrator in AssetWise System Management Console.
  • You must have permission to modify the document that contains the original file, because the new rendition will be added to that document.
Note: Watermark text is defined in AssetWise Director.

To Create Renditions of Files within a Document

  1. Open the document or document copy containing the files you want to create renditions of.
  2. In the Task pane, in the Media section, click the Render link.

The Render link is only available if you have permission to create renditions of files in this document.

    The Create Renditions window opens.

  3. From the Rendition Output Format list, select which file format you want the rendition(s) to be.
  4. (Optional) Turn on Watermark if you want the rendition(s) to contain a watermark.
  5. In the Files list, select which files you want to create renditions of.
  6. Click Render.

The renditions are created and added to the Files topic. Refresh (<F5>) the list if needed.

Note: If you do not want to publish all of a document's files to the same rendition output format, instead you can run this procedure once for each rendition output format you need. For example, in the first run, select only the files you want to create PDFs for, select PDF as the rendition output format, then click Render. On the second run, select only the files you want to create images for, select TIFF Image as the rendition output format, then click Render. And so on.
