To Reassign a Task to Another User

You can reassign your tasks to other users as needed. Unlike delegating, when you reassign a task you are relinquishing all control and responsibility over that task.

  1. Open the Explore tab (View > Explore).
  2. Click the Work Exchange icon.
    Tip: Before you can reassign a task, you must first reject it. A task must be in your Forthcoming or Inbox folder in order to reject it. This means that you can reject a task as long as you have not accepted it yet. If you have already accepted the task and you still want to reject it, you need to go to your Work in progress folder and mark the task as requiring rework, which will move it back to your Inbox where you can then reject it.
  3. Expand the folder (Forthcoming or Inbox) containing the task you want to reject.
  4. Select the task and click the Reject Work Task icon in the action bar.

    The Reject Task dialog opens.

  5. Select the user(s) you want to notify, enter a reason for rejecting the task, then click Reject.

    The task is moved to the Reassign Required folder.

  6. Expand the Reassign Required folder, then select the task and click the Reassign icon.

    The Reassign Task dialog opens. You can assign the task to a specific user or to a skill.

  7. Select Person and enter the appropriate Person Code, or select Skill and then select the appropriate skill from the list, then click Reassign. The task is moved out of your Reassign Required folder and into the Forthcoming or Inbox folder of the specified user or skill.
